Hi all, Here is the Succes " Col de Cygne" table lamp by the French company Guenet & Abbat, from mid to late 20,s. The lamp is equipped with the "Bec Succes" No.101 burner head, and is said to give out a light of 150 CP. The lamp was almost complete but needed a good cleaning. Some previous owner had tried to clean the font with a bad result, so I had to clean that up a bit. Made a new small cleaning needle mechanism handle and assembled all the bits and pieces of the burner. The 101 burner and most Succes brand burners include a big number of small bits and pieces. It's like a puzzle and you have to attach them in the right order. Surprisingly when fitted the burner do not leak and all the joints are tight. A nice addition to my "French" collection. The lamp together with its sibling the No.113 Lampe Forme Lyre (or Lampe Centrale)………….. …………. …………..and the "befores"...……. /Conny
Thanks Jeff, Attached you find an image with a selection of Succés brand gas pressure appliances. Note the stove is not mine, but an image from the Europeana Collections. I think the stove originally belongs, if I remember right, to the collection of The Technical Museum in Stockholm. /Conny
Stunning, as usual when restored by you, Conny. Do you have a connection to the French lamp maffia? We ordinary simple collectors just don't find such items once in a life, that you do several times a year. Bo
Thanks Bo, I know you have a couple of nice French lamps yourself. Not to mention your big and stunning collection of French stoves, second to none. /Conny
Thank you, @Conny C That is another beautiful lamp! I am impressed by the number of pieces that need to be put back together to get these French lamps going. Best regards Tony
@Conny C Superb, once again. Frankly I am getting sick of saying nice things about your lamps - I have to do it so often. Don't forget I have a lamp here you want. Find me something like this and we can organise a swap. Even something half as good as this one.
