I have had very little success with very high temperature paints on Tilley lamps that are used in anger. I’ve had some success with Tilley floodlights as the hood is further from the burner.

That’s a good achievement. Let us know how it lasts.

Well after a 3 hour burning last night the paint held up very well, it went a bit soft so let it cool down and lit again this morning and now rock hard after 2 hours. It's baked on. The tin says the paint stays hard and glossy on your calipers to keep your car in show condition and paint is rated at 1700 degrees after first heating and cooling cycle...

That’s interesting. I’ve thought that my calliper paint was better than the higher temperature-rated VHT, but never tested it like that.

Keep using and let us know.

    Cheers

What brand paint was this please? The stuff I've seen on Fleabay tops out at less than 300 degrees.

650°C is around 1200°F. A lot reach 260°C, some higher, but colour is restricted, mostly black or silver.

Rust-oleum Caliper paint here is rated at 900 F or 482 C about 4 colours.

1700deg F? That's over 900 deg C. That's higher than the melting point of brass.
What kind of paint is that?
Any brand or MSDS available for that?
