This lantern has been on my wishing list for a long time and now I have finally got one. It is in very good shape, only a small crack in the enamel of the top and came with the original glass. Notice the engraved "INSTANT" on the opposite side of the number in the tank. I have never seen it before on any lamp. The badge on the collar sais 1084S while the tank is stamped 1084. Probably the same tank was used for the both models. Bo
I have a 1082s marked on the collar and the tank only 1082 as well. Unfortunately mine is missing the original glass. This one is a real beauty. They have a nice presence on the shelf. The blue top looks great
Great Find Bo ! I have a couple (one depicted in this forum) and one more, both actually says Instant just as yours, Great and beautiful lanterns, enjoy !
@Tive @Bo Ryman How do you find these in use? Mine is a bit fussy. Throws out a lot of heat but not as much light as expected. Quite a noisy fellow too. I was using a generic 500cp mantle. Have got some Thorium petromax 500cp to try as well. Any recommendations?
Hello Mark, Well' the ones i have works real fine, albeit a little bit noisy. puts out good light, but i use old Thorium mantles. Fred,
Hi Tive I had another fettle on mine. Set the airgap to maximum and it started much better. After 5 minutes to warm up the panting stopped and the light is nice and steady. Plenty of heat to warm up the toes as well.
Good fettle ! I have seen this on some lanterns, if they are panting when first lit, they normally settle on a very bright light after a while. One of my favourite lanterns, mainly because the light blue top :-) Fred,
