Picked this up in my travels this morning together with some other bits and pieces. I've done a bit of reading through the reference gallery but not really sure how to work out an approximate date for this lantern. Also before I go cleaning it down, any ideas on what type of metal am I looking at - is this chrome over brass?
Most of the lantern will be plated brass, but the simplest way to check it is to use a magnet, Hipolito lanterns are well made and that one should restore well enough and the link below shows relevant paperwork. https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/hipolito-advert.1128/
Thanks @JEFF JOHNSON I just ran a magnet over it and it looks like it is all brass aside from the bail. The brochure shows that these are chrome plated. I had a closer look at the underside of the fount and can see it is stamped in the centre with the numbers "677". Good light is needed to make this out. I wonder if that might mean it was manufactured in June 1977?
Nice find @Pauly and it should clean up nicely. There is a bit of info on dating Hipolito in this post HIPOLITO 300 CP
