Hi folks Recently I joined the CCF and a couple of days ago joined in my first conversation, photos above, when a strange incident occurred. A page popped up saying access denied as I was possibly a potential spammer. I followed the protocol to have this suspension removed and logged on after 24 hours as suggested only to find my account has been deleted. Both posts were from an Apple iPad so should be spam free and the content of my conversation should not be inflammatory as can be seen. Short of re-registering again I can see no contact details to find out the reason for this action. Just wondering if anyone could possibly help please. Regards Jeremy
@Lamp_Doctor Thanks for that, Bob. Not only have I been excommunicated but my IP address has been identified as a spammer. Just got Murfs email address as I cannot gain access to CCF at all. Regards Jeremy
Jeremy, Some forum software will monitor access and abusive access to the forum. If someone who uses the same IP range as you do tries to spam a forum, the whole range will automatically be blocked. Additionally the software can use one ore several servers that provide a list with blacklisted IPs. You may check https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/79.67.208.71 for example to get additional information on the IP you use. There is a link "check blacklist status". Your IP is listed on several "bad IP lists". May be one of the users who used this IP before you did something that caused the entry in the blacklist. You can get a new IP in the router settings. (or pull the plug and re-connect which will mostly do the same) . If your ISP uses a proxy to handle internet access (which does not seem to be in your case) you would have to wait until the IP is no longer on that blacklist - or manually configure internet access through a different specified proxy. Worst case would be a virus (or similar) on your computer which tries to access the sites in your browser history and send spam to the forum without your knowledge. Erik
@WimVe Nothing at all but thought I’d have a dabble! @Erik Leger Thanks, sounds far to complicated for me! I’ll have to ask one of my youngsters to have a look as I have tried the unplugged router option without joy. Regards Jeremy
There are loads of databases that hold records of IP's that have ben used by spammers. It's unusual not to find one or more databases that hold an alert against reputable service providers. I checked 4 of your commonly used IP's - all household name UK service providers & the one red flag anti-spam database they had in common was dnsbl.spfbl.net Getting the IP removed can be a chore. I've only had it happen at server level & left it to the hosting company to resolve. Not had it at my home service provider level. How do I get an IP address removed from a blacklist?
@spiritburner Thanks Ross. Just wondering how it allowed me to place a couple of posts a day or so earlier before it bounced me out. Recently all internet usage is on an Apple iPad so shoul have been safe. But then again I am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to technology. Regards Jeremy
Jeremy, I intermittently get the spam block page when I access the forum from work, and I work for the US Navy. I also had an episode about a week ago where it told me something sent from the forum to my email had bounced so I had to register a new email. My email was working fine and the address hadn't changed in 20 years. Talk to Murff or one of the other mods and it will get sorted. there does appear to be some gremlins in the code at CCF recently. Cheers, Reese
@X246A, Jeremy, It is like Erik says. Fastest way and only way is to contact your own internet provider and ask them what to do to get another IP-number in another range. The last part is important.
@Reese Williams and @WimVe Thanks ever so for the information, makes me feel a bit more hopeful about getting it resolved. Regards Jeremy
well that is a shame, it would be great if you could get back on there. i will put a word in for you.
i talked to murff and he said you should be able to register, so try again and see what happens. it would be great to have you back on there. i recently built up 2 milspecs from parts i accumulated but have yet to fire them but they should run up nice.
@scl Many thanks for that, I’ll give it a go tomorrow. The problem could potentially be my preferred browser which is DuckDuckGo (don’t like Google tracker) which still pulls up the forbidden message, however if I use Safari I can enter the site as a guest. I’ll report back. Regards Jeremy
Trevor It sounds as if you think I have the slightest clue as to what I'm doing! Edit: Just tried on Ghostery on an older iPad and still get the forbidden, however Safari still lets me in OK. Just wish I knew what settings need tweaking. Regards Jeremy
