    Go to the Coleman Collectors Forum. Go to the How to and Safety sub Forum, scroll down first page until you see "how to make a pricker" by Deanofid. Read, enjoy and do. Cheers Peter

    @Darryl Durdin

    What lantern are you making a cleaning needle for?

    I gave up trying to drill a 0.3mm hole and now use brass tube that I got from a local hobby shop.
    The brass tube is 1mm dia with 0.4mm internal diameter. There is also a 2mm tube that the 1mm tube will slide into.
    I have also found that a #27 hypodermic needle will fit into the 1mm tube (making crimping easier).

    I use a lathe to drill the 1mm hole in the end of an existing rod. Like this Austramax.

    Austramax ready for crimping.

    the picture above is what I either need to make or drill out need on my handi kero pet I'm working on.
    I have been searching net for micro tap and dies and drills, I have discussed my plan with my jeweller friend in town, I have been in contact with a few hobby houses. I was given a carbon steel guitar string PL007"or 0.178mm. my list of pickers are, to restore original picker VERITAS 350, handi kero pet, two Aladdin 1A's.
    In the spirit of doing it my self, I'm assembling all the bits I need. I will attempt and practice, I read the how to on the Coleman classic page which I thought was very interesting and good practical encouragement.
    thank you everyone advice and helpful hints
