I guess it will be so easy, Jeremy: there is still a mantle there and kerosene on the tank; the lamp is covered by what seems to be greasy kitchen dirt. So, I guess that it was just keeped in the last place it was used for the last time. Would see when I arrive home.
Very dirty indeed, but good condition. It had the top of the tank bent, but it was easy to solve. The vaporizer seems to be the original one, the kind you can't take apart. It is a little bit bent but I won't do anything on it, as even the pricker is working fine. Now I'll clean it and to replace the leather cup pump and then would see what hapehap.
I used to think this type of indoor lamp looked a bit odd but now.... I love them! Yours looks very decorative - you did a grand job of cleaning it up!
Well, that is not so strange. They DO look odd. Be that if it's a Petromax, Optimus or that ugly Bialaddin. This one does too. But that isn't so strange, since when we get our hands on these lamps today, they practically always miss the shade they really should have to look as they were intended to. Put a shade on it, and it is a real table lamp, and a good looking one too.
I so agree with this comment, most of my table lamps have shades on them, without one they look kind of unfinished.
Ahhhhh, so I was not seeing them as they were originally intended! I understand now, thank you, @Carlsson and @Jean J
