SDR tilley

    Hi just joined today think the web site is great, had loads of information. I have recently purchased a SDR tilley and planning to restore it ,i have restored a few lamps and heaters over the months R1s ,guardsman etc ,got a few questions about the SDR ,could anyone tell me are the original pump and control cock brass or painted brass like the guardsman or have any pics of the originals, and how does the reflector slide off thanks.

    It doesn't.

    As for colour, I don't know. Mine appears to be originally black and I don't know if the control cock is original.

    They were always painted black and that included the pump and control cock. If you look in the reference gallery under Tilley you will find several featured there. Most folk like to repaint the tanks black and polish the pump and cock which is a pleasing look but not how they were originally sold. ::Neil::

    On the subject of the reflector, I’ve not dismantled mine, so I don’t know directly, but I reckon if @Anthony says they don’t, then they dont...

    Having looked at my SDR, the tops of the cage legs are inserted through the top cage ring and hammered over to secure them.
