Does anybody have any idea who takes the honors in these three categories?
    1.Kerosene
    2.White Gas
    3.Propane/Canister

I know alot of 500CP lanterns are out there but I don't know of much brighter than that except for the Coleman North Star- White Gas & Propane & Pinnacle Lantern (Propane)

1000 cp Night Hawk. As far as I know no one else has been daft enough to make a bigger one. If you include non portable then you can get to 5000 or bigger with some do nut lamps and some lighthouse kero burners were even bigger. Mind you they had a 40 gallon fuel tank and used that every day.

500 cp is about the limit of practicallity. The Night Hawk uses kero at the rate of around a pint in just under two hours. That means with a full tank it is good for maybe 5 hours. They made a larger tank version to extend this but that is a seriously heavy lantern. 500 cp uses around a pint in four hours so a big lantern like a North Star is good for about 8 hours. To have a bigger burner means a shorter burn or a bigger tank. Since most lanterns are designed to do 8 hours or so and are also designed to be a practial lantern to carry this limits the size and power for most. It is not an accident that whatever the make 250 to 350 was a standard for many years and 500 the max power offered by all manufacturers. ::Neil::

Tilley FL6 is said to have 5000 HK, but uses the common 300 HK mantle with the big impressisve reflector :)

Tilley claimed 5000 reflected CP for the FL6 which uses the 191 mantle rather than the far more common 164. This is because the FL6 burner is actually slightly smaller than the usual lantern burner...

Makes me want the Night Hawk all the more. Does anyone know how I might get on the wait list for one?

You need to find someone who can put you in touch with Jake King in Lancaster. Terry Marsh ordered mine but I think anyone who knows Lancaster Lanterns should be able to help. Just have plenty of cash spare and a lot of patience. ::Neil::
