They look like a mesh golfball. You can buy them from eBay (item 111721288523).

Instructions are in the Reference Library, but make sure you prime it very well.

Fettle it just like a Tilley lantern.

    Cheers

I just noticed you are missing the ceramic sleeve on the burner. Look at Tilley R1s and Kayen heaters in the Reference Gallery.

You could also get one of these from TW Sands in Melbourne (it will need the sleeve as well):

    Tilley R1 or equivalent mantle

Note: when I said “prime” above, I was referring to pre-heating. Don’t skimp on preheating these radiators.

    Cheers

You can also get one from John Gannon in Braidwood: Kerosene Presser Lamps Parts
I’m in the process of buying the same parts but for a Tilley R1, it’s a pile of grime at the moment!

Hello Darryl, it's possible to make your own heater mantles and the link below shows a post which has relevant links in it.

You can get the top and bottom plates for a cylindrical mantle from auto parts stores they are called brass welsh plugs 1.5 inch (if I remember correctly) just have to drill the holes.
