I guess this is one of those things you either know it or you don't.
    I don't. :-k

Could it be for a Tilley LPG ??

    @Anthony

This is for an Tilley R1 Radiator, now I may be wrong but what you have may also work on the Tilley R55 Radiator.

The Tilley uses a mantle with a through hole. It looks like it’s from a Coleman propane heater maybe.

I’ve not seen one with a band and two flat lugs (top photo) on a kerosene Tilley.

    Cheers

It's not for a Veritas bowl fire either, but it could probably be fettled to fit.

Will it fit on a Petromax?

@phaedrus42 , I assume you mean to go on a Petromax lamp.
I like the idea that it may be used like that but I don't see that it would fit on a Petromax.

I've looked into Coleman and Campingaz but found nothing.

    Again, the mystery continues.

It may be for an LP gas heater. The hole in the side could be for a piezo ignitor?

LPG is the most likely in my opinion @phaedrus42 but it would be nice to be sure.

The holes in the wire mantles I have always figured they were for letting the flame get inside the mantle.
I had a wire one without the hole years ago and I would have to blow on it several times to get it to burn inside.
Funny thing was it work quite well with the flame outside the mantle anyway.

Thanks @goldwinger11 , I did see that one and had a look for a catalogue for it but couldn't find one.

I think you would be right but it would be nice to see it in a catalogue too.

    Of course you want one!
You have the mantle and need the heater to make the mantle work.:lol:
