    Hi all,

This is another American old timer lamp....the Astley Portable Parlor Lamp, made by the Allen Sparks Gas Light Company, Lansing Michigan.

This is a big, well engineered and high quality built lamp, with several special features. Height adjustable pre heat cup mounted to the generator; sliding cover on the burner mixing chamber casting, to get access to clean out the jet.

Probably white gas/gasoline as fuel and around 300CP. We don't know for sure as there is no catalogue or other paperwork for this lamp to confirm that.

Only some ads where you can see the different shade configurations for this lamp. Also another type of the same lamp with the fuel T-shaped control covered in a wider lamp handle.

Two patents to Robert Astley for this lamp and both together have the features for this Astley lamp.

This lamp is mostly known to have an art glass dome shade, with and without fringes. Other shade configurations were 10 or 12" opal dome shades.

My lamp came without shade and I think a parchment shade I have for a Primus 1025 lamp was the best option. Looked very nice and even nicer when the lamp was running.
