here I sit all proud of myself since i know some basic bushcraft and survival tasks... but seeing some of that makes me feel as if i know nothing....
If im not mistaken a Coleman 288 sized globe fits fine if they are more easily found where you are?
I agree too small of a mantle, possibly installed improper as well.

I have and Aida and a Petromax 829 and the brass gauze fixed the pulsing as well. Good luck and keep at it!
Funny how I have a few Aida, Petromax and tons of Coleman lanterns, i always use the excuse of wanting to buy a "user" lantern to justify buying...

I gave up on trying to make sense of it years ago. Likely someone has crunched all the numbers and found a pattern, but I am not that person!

So you need a Coleman 288 fount which would be the same as a 214 i suspect.
I agree to all thats been said, i love the three piece caps just on each of changing out the gasket when needed
