Further to THIS post, I came across an interesting variation on the Bullfinch company’s ‘Mini-Flood’ propane lamp, one of these. Mick Emm spoke of their usefulness in a post HERE in lighting up the Embsay station car park at the heritage railway there. Winter daytime in West Yorkshire. Steam saddle-tank loco, propane Mini-Flood. My find is a much more cheaply built (presumably) variation of a Mini-Flood. It came in this ‘No-Nail’ (1934 patent) box made of thick cardboard and strip steel. Patent drawing for the box. The lamp. A measure of the ‘lighter’ construction (I’m being charitable!) in aluminium sheet as opposed to the aluminium castings of the more common version. It’s nevertheless an authentic Bullfinch product and not a poor copy. Perfectly functional certainly, and the trunions and mounting bracket this design incorporates increases its versatility, making it possible to mount on the Bullfinch tripod designed for the company’s large floodlamp. @pete sav Yeah Pete, new one on me too. I’m guessing it was a late-production effort to cut costs. The tripod mounting capability is most likely an unintended outcome, but handy to have, with a pan-and-tilt movement … I’ll avoid the temptation to spotlight pals crossing the campsite at Newark or Ashover though!
