After many years of searching, I was finally able to fulfill my wish for a beautiful Swedish lamp some time ago. A Primus 992 from 1955. Here it is without the soldered-on badge, which was probably introduced that year. Primus 992
Yes the 992 is a good lamp. They work well and look good. A bit noisy though, but in a good way. In 1955 there should be a red metal plate attached to the collar with the model number as there is no number stamped on the tank. That way they could use the same tank for the 991 and the 992. The soldered on plate on the tank was for the alcohol model (392). Occasionally you see one with a plate with 992 on it. Maybe there were some left over alcohol lamps that the factory 'reconverted' to kerosene. That is just a guess.
Congratulations @leo I know how you feel as I recently bought a Primus lamp after years of looking for one. They are pretty special I think.
Hi @Nils Stephenson , You're absolutely right, of course. When writing the post, I confused the badge and the banderole. I had been talking to a friend about the Primus 1381 over the last few days, and this lamp has a soldered badge on the tank. I've also noticed that the lamp is relatively loud when in use, almost to the point of being annoying
