A few acquisitions for the lamp collection this weekend. Particularly pleased with the insect screen and original Coleman 329 “Special Panel” shade. On the left is a working 7 2 (Feb 1927) US CQ with a 329 “Monax” shade. According to D&D Lanternworks, these shades were offered by Coleman as replacements between 1929 and 1946. On the right is a soon to be fettled 26 10 (Oct 1926) Canadian CQ with a Coleman 329 “Special Panel” shade. Also according to D&D, these shades were exclusive to Coleman between 1917 and 1929 and the signature CQ shade. The bottom diameter measures 9 3/4” (later reproductions measure 10”). Also complete with a No.333 wire insect screen that I’ve sprayed with a high temp clear coat due to the white asbestos paint. I’m calling these both CQs but Coleman would have listed them both as Cs because they were manufactured after 1925, which is when the Q burner designations were dropped (according to the ICCC book). I also acquired a “common” Plain Opal shade. Unsure if it’s a Coleman 306, Rayo, reproduction, or otherwise. But it means I now need another lamp
Excellent finds, congratulations mate, I would be very happy with your new lamps. That's a fine line of lamps you have in the second last photo, wow wee.
