I find myself increasingly preferring Kerosene lanterns for price of fuel reasons. Bunnings here in Wellington have just bunged a couple of extra bucks onto the price of Shellite/Naptha but Kero is still the same price (which is a lot cheaper). I scored this Coleman 639 Jan 1981 for a very good price and it is barely used! There was no soot at all in the hood and the inside of the burner head etc still had shiny metal. There was old Kero varnish all over the globe rest which leads me to believe that someone tried to light it, failed, and never tried again! I have the 635 Naptha version but would prefer to use this one if I need to, particularly now.
