Hello all would you please help me with the pump regulator. This tank is very unusual among the lamps my late father own. I don’t know how setup this correctly. Each time , I set up after pumping air kerosene comes out from the pump, it is back up, These are the pictures:
It sounds like the seal in the end of the brass cup has gone bad. Early ones were made from cork, later ones are fuel resistant rubber. This is from a Tilley but the principal is the same. The rubber from a Prabhat or Gold Mohar should be the same size as the one for your Petromax. If you can't get just the rubber, you may have to buy something like item 17 on this page Petromax Spares Price List
As @Henry Plews said. It’s a non-return valve fitted externally as opposed to inside a pump tube (at the end of it). This example is on a paraffin stove/furnace but the principle’s the same.
