I'm hoping someone can help jog my memory. When I was around 10yrs old in 1970 or so, my grandfather had a pressure lamp in his shed that I very much liked. It was very similar to the big Tilleys that had the large round shaped glass and big diameter brim (excuse my ignorance of terminology please!), it looked like it was meant to be hung from a roof or ceiling. My grandfather cleaned it up and got it working well and gave it to me with some spare mantles. Everyone that saw it just assumed it was a Tilley but it wasn't. It was bought in Australia, probably in the '40s at a guess. I don't know what happened to it but guess it was thrown away at some stage. For the life of me I cannot recall the brand other than a vague notion that it ended in ---ey like Tilley. It was an unusual name, short like Tilley and may include an O or a K but this is over 50 years ago and I just can't retrieve it from memory. Does this ring any bells with anyone?

    Cheers,
    John

Thanks for the reply pod but it wasn't one of those. Very similar appearance though, I think the top of the shade was green. It must have been a relatively rare brand, I've searched quite a few sites and come up with nothing.

    Welcome, @johnmurray

If it was sold in Australia, it very likely that the name is on this site.

Handi, Primus, Optimus, Coleman, Radius, Wizard, Gloria, Austramax, Petromax, Hasag, Aladdin, Victory, Nulite, Hipolito, Campway, Kerona, Stormaster, and Collins would be the most likely… [Almost every lantern I’ve listed in Reference Gallery was sold in Australia].

If it’s not in that list, and you really want to know, I can call you for a chat.

It was none of those. The fact that it's so hard to find makes me wonder whether it was maybe some sort of house brand, like the way some items are sold under a name used by the seller, Aldi style. It'll come to me eventually, most likely in the middle of the night..
