Found up on the N E coast, originally used on a herring drifter working out of Fraserburgh. Globe got broken a few decades ago unfortunately.

    Lovely old thing.
What is it? Gravity fed, or carbide or something funky?

Gravity fed, alcohol or spiritus lamp.
The Graetzin 915 is the more known version.
A petromax donut lamp globe may fit.

This is actually a kerosene lamp. At least that is what is written in the catalogue referenced in the other thread.

That's one heck of a vapouriser!
I assume #4 is a mesh or wadding for an anti-fart device?

I kinda really want one now :mrgreen:

I noticed that pb but there wouldn’t be much call for fripperies of that sort on a fishing boat!

It was about the type of globe. And there are no AIDA globes to come by any more since a long time. But reproduction globes can be still obtained if "Petromax" is used for searching.

    Ah I stand corrected.
My fault. In fact the so called petromax globes where initially gas light globes.
The shape also looks like the Graetzin alcohol light uses. It is more round then pointed (like the gas globes).

Thanks for that @Kawpan and if I decide to have a go at it I’ll search around for a Petromax globe.
