very little remained of my home and collection after the disastrous wildfire of January 7-8, 2025 in Altadena, California.
not just my home but those of all my neighbors and the entire town. all wiped out in a matter of hours. I shall scour CPL for my previous posts as I do not even have any pictures of my collection.
as the shed went up I was able to grab one lantern, it was my 237 which accompanied me to the 2006 ICCC convention at Frank Bebb's place in Yucca Valley California. Yours truly in the reflection.
Sorry to see and hear Dan. A terrible tragedy for many. The collection is just material things, being here and able to tell the story is the most important thing. Good to see you posting.
I concur with Toby's comments in the previous post and perhaps you will be able to rescue some parts.
I'm also sorry to hear these things happen, not just to you but hundreds of others going through the same hardships.
Very sad to see this. I thought of you and your place as I heard about the fire (I sent you a Petromax 2827 a couple of years ago). Hopefully you and your family were not hurt, that's the main thing.
We watched this all unfold on the news programmes on u k television, it sent shivers down my spine seeing peoples homes being destroyed in a very short space of time, I can only send my best wishes for the future for yourself, your family and all others affected. Best regards Ian
I'm terribly sorry it happened to you and others. As we all know, those fires had been absolutely out of control at that time and place. The fires appeared apocalyptic in the videos shown on Youtube and other channels. Glad that you're still around.
