I bought an old Tilley kerosene radiator heater. I was thinking of putting it in the cockpit and cabin of my sailboat as an additional heat source.

My thinking is it should probably be gimbaled like an old Sea Swing Stove; I can weld or fabricate something.

Does anyone have experience with using this type of heater on a boat?

    Your thoughts.

Crikey, there’s always something new to learn about Tilleys, that’s certainly a new one on me. Does anyone have this gimbal?

Yep. I learn something every time I post.

I'm going to start hunting for a gimbal. Thanks!

They did a gimbal well before the CS56.
    This has the SY.

There is another one in an ad on page 79 of the Tilley book.

    Hi @esarratt

my main concern about using it in a boat would be the building up of CO, being heavier than air

I have found that even with new parts heaters seem to give out more Carbon Monoxide than lamps which sets off the alarm i have.
If that was me i would do extensive testing with the boat moored up first to make sure everything was safe? All tilley instructions stress the need for good ventilation when using lamps or heaters
I see you are using the older asbestos mantle ; it may be that helps combustion better than the later wire mantle, which is what i have been using ? :-k
Hopefully any testing will bring good results ; it would be good to know how you get on?
the link Jeff showed makes interesting reading too ..

    good luck with everything
