    Hello,

    Recently won an old Optimus 350 on an auction that I managed to restore to functional status at least. As a newbie I am not sure about the reading of the manometer.
    There is a black marking. (see picture) Would that be the optimal pressure or is that the max? Any other tips and tricks on best pressure or what the needle should be reading is highly appreciated.

    Regards

    I’m not sure what the gauge is saying on that “IMP” manometer, but the operating pressure for pressure lamps such as these is between 25psi to 30psi or about 1.8atm.

    This is my first view on such a gauge face/dial plate marking.
    I am also ignorant on the exact meaning of the marking letters.
    Is it IMP or 1MP?
    If it is 1MP, then my first thought would be 1 Megapascal, but the unit should have been 1MPa instead.(Pa for Pascal).
    However, 1 Megapascal would be too high for this application. 1MPa = 10 bar or 10kgf/cm².
    1MPa is also about 145.038 psi or about 9.867 atm.
    Therefore, this does not make too much sense to me either :D:-k
    @Guslund ,
    Where on the scale did the gauge's indicator needle pointed to when you were running your lantern at full operation?

    Perhaps other members would know better. It could be anything,..older units, in Swedish?, etc.

    The mark is the optimal pressure, which is around the 1.8 bar mark. These gauges are not a precision instrument, so the marking should be used as a guideline. I usually just pump until my thumb hurts, then I know it has enough pressure.

    As for the IMP, I'm sure I have heard an explanation before but can't remember now. My guess would be indicated mean pressure.
