I have a Tilley X246B but I cannot remove the rusty Vapouriser Tube to refurbish ie replace the non-return Valve in the Valve Assembly or to clean the Vapouriser Needle. Has anyone else encountered the the same Problem and how did you resolve it?

The vapouriser should unscrew in one piece (relatively) easily from the control cock.

If it doesn’t, there must be some kind of corrosion or cross-threading — hopefully not threadlock.

I would apply strong heat to the vapouriser at its lower parts, and then penetrating oil. Then clamp the control cock and apply firm force with gripping pliers to the knurled part of vapouriser to unscrew.

    Repeat if necessary.

    Cheers
