This is a rare copper-colored version 501, which I found from ebay, Austria. The tank reads "Made in Germany," and it should be a product of Austria's occupation by Nazi Germany. This is how it looks when I get it The surface also retained the anti-oxidant coating sprayed on the factory Dismantling and cleaning, and rust removal of iron parts The glass ball has a crack, but it should be pristine After assembly, I used kerosene for a test run, but the results were not good. There were many yellow flames around the veil. I quickly realized that it might be an alcohol nozzle. Next I measured the diameter of the nozzle, which is about 0.28mm, which is the same as the alcohol nozzle of radius 119. I emptied the kerosene in the oil tank, re-added anhydrous ethanol, and made air restriction on the air inlet. This time I succeeded and the flame status was perfect. The top of the lantern is flat and has three protrusions on the top, which is perfect for placing the teapot on top. There are two sets of numbers 03 and 4 at the bottom. It may be helpful for judging the production date. I read the other 501 CPL posts. It may be produced in March 1934 or March 1944. I think 1944 may be correct, please let me know if anyone knows the exact answer, or I can post your thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it!
Very nice presentation! Love to see these restorations with pictures. Fine lantern. I thought the 501 used kerosene for fuel but if this lantern was made during the war alcohol could have been the fuel since kerosene would have been hard to find.
@george You are right. Alcohol was relatively easy to obtain during World War II. I know that many brands introduced alcohol versions or modified kits for burning alcohol during World War II.

Yesterday, a kerosene nozzle bought from South Korea came with a specification of 300cp and a hole diameter of 0.2mm. There is no problem using kerosene now, there is no smell when the lantern burns, and the air and fuel ratio is just right.

Hello, I have 501 where was no rubber and spring in the pump valve. I replaced the rubber, but where to get proper spring? Any type I try does not hold the pressure, or makes so big tension that cannot be pumped... please, help, or where to get new pump valve

not specialised, I have COleman, Petromax, Mewa, Hasag, Geniol... and this Maxim 501. Wish I had new check valve (also for my COleman 252 1944)
You could try cutting short the spring from a ball point pen. You can cut it long to start and then clip it down until it functions correctly. ::Neil::
@DittmannCz When I have a pump valve (NRV) that won't seal with a rubber (Viton) seal I make a new pip out of cork. It has to be natural cork (not cork chips glued together). Originally all pips in NRV's were cork. As done in this Ditmar Maximette 581
Very nice Ditmars all. Great fettle. Anfeng, the jet/gas tip looks somewhat like some of those nozzle tips used for gas welding torches, except that it has a male thread. The vaporizer loop looks more like the original patented Preston loop with the non-spiral design.
@Anfeng Does the ring on the vapouriser/generator connect to the verticle part of the generator so that vaporised fuel flows through it (like a Preston loop). Or is it just a heat sink like the one on my Hasag 102? Tony
@Tony Press Although that loop has open connections to the inside of the vapourizer I doubt that much (gasified) fuel runs through it since both ends are at the same height. That issue was meant to be improved by the spiral designs from other manufacturers, but I don't know why Ditmar stayed with the flat design. Probably patent restrictions, I guess. Nevertheless the Ditmar lanterns with that kind of vaporizer I own run properly on kerosene/paraffin, or charcoal lighter.
