I have recently obtained a Tilley Site Light and am looking for info about renovation and these type of lamp generally
I’ve just found this question from January, & by chance am wanting info myself. The lamp on the left is my sitelamp BT26 which I got at the new year, bought it because I had never seen one. Only reference I have found through google was a brief mention on a German forum. The one on the right I got in a job lot last week, don’t know anything about this one other than it says Tilley on the valve. Any info would be greatly appreciated Cheers Malcolm

The one on the right is a similar design to the Bullfinch 1616 lamp, but having the hose connection low down allows it to be more stable when stood on a table. The Bullfinch glass and Tilley 171 glass are interchangeable.
Sort of - the Bullfinch glass is quite a bit thicker and sometimes can be a very tight fit in the Tilley globe cage. I would guess that Tilley made the lamps for Bullfinch to sell as their own - early 'badge engineering'. The Bullfinch catalogue is online but they'll send you a hard copy (or, at least, they sent me one a few years back). It's quite interesting and useful if you're wondering about LPG applications... Thanks for the info so far, and I’ve looked at the bullfinch catalogue David , it is useful and has answered some of the gas questions I was going to ask. Both these lamps take the standard 171 Tilley glass no problem. Yes Pete, both burners are the same, terminating in a ceramic “petromax” type screw in nozzle. Can anyone shed any lite, if you’ll pardon the pun, on age or anything else useful to me, particularly on the BT26
Yes, the Tilley glass being thinner goes in the Bullfinch easily... Well, I've got a couple of the Tilley BT26 blighters and try as I might, I can't get them to run properly. I've also got some of the 1616s but I can't remember what degree of success I've had with them. I've an idea the BT26s take the 1646 double-walled mantle. When I get back in from my walk I'll check that...
I find the Bullfinch gives a good light if you have the correct regulator. I will admit that I have a Petromax clone with the ceramic burner stollen from a damaged Bullfinch 1616

Yes, as it turns out, both of these lamps, the Tilley BT26 on the left and the Tilley GL820 Sitelite on the right, take the 1646 mantle. I've found some relevant literature which I'll try to get scanned and posted over the weekend...
After a couple of months of interruptions, I’ve finally fixed the leaks on this lamp and am very pleased with the results
