I have noticed that some (older?) models of Tilley X246 lamps have a brass pump, whereas my X246B has an IMHO inferior aluminium version. Are the two types interchangeable?

Yes the threads are the same and you are right the alluminium fittings on the B are not very good and are a major reason I don't like these later Tilley lantens. Changing the valve and pump to brass will make the lamp a better user. ::Neil::

    Hi Neil,
Many thanks for the reply. I will look out for a brass pump.

If you ‘d like to give me your details R100 I’d be happy to send you brass pump and control cock for the cost of P&P. Not sure if you can pm me yet because of your low number of posts.

No problem, I have more pumps than I know what to do with along with pump washers.
