    Here is a first version Tilley X246 with the short bail.

    This came to me from a collection, with the brass cage and burner cleaned back to brass. I don't intend to light it as I have a working one of these already.

    It's a well built lantern!:thumbup:
    I prefer the Guardsman lantern's pump, because the collar is broader and therefor easier to get a hold of.

    @Tony Press .
    That’s a very nice example of the “knuckle warmer”.
    I’ve now managed to find one however the 4 posts have been braised into the fount. It appears there has been a leak around the legs’ threaded tank inserts. However the rest of the lantern is all there.

    “Knuckle burner” is a good name for this model.

    Still a good find dont forget its the first model even thou it was short lived by the second model only having the handle changed longer .Bob .
