Hi An over cluttered work bench plus abject clumsiness on my part has seen the demise of the original glass for my Veritas 350 lantern. Does anyone know if there are any modern glasses which will fit as I assume getting an original will be both expensive and difficult. Hope some one can supply some good news. Regards, Jeremy
I'm sure I've got some originals around here somewhere but I'll be bu&&ered if I can locate them... I bought half a dozen each of globes for the 350 and Superb. I can find the Superb globes (which nobody seems to want ) but not the 350 ones (which people do)...
Lower the Price and I will buy them all David BTW did you notice I am on PayPal now and got my own Avatar Claus C
Hi David If you do come across the 350 glass and are willing to spare one please let me know. Many thanks, Jeremy
hi Jeremy, i gave up trying to find a genuine globe. i followed phaedrus42 with his tutorial on glass cutting. Search for: cutting glass globes. it was fairly easy. (very grateful for that posting sir!) i used a hurricane lamp glass which i found online from a place called Robert Welch. I know its a pain, but its definitely worthwhile. i hope someone has a genuine globe spare for you, but if not at least this is an option. regards.
@David Shouksmith. I’ll certain have a Superb globe. What price are you asking, plus shipping to Australia? Cheers Pete
I've recently found that a Coleman 220 globe actually fits in a 350 because although it is too tall by about an inch, the extra bit fits into and inside the curved hood - well it did when I tried it a week or two ago. I've tried it in a 350 and a 9955 and it worked in those. If you find an aftermarket globe with no logo it should look ok. Hope this helps
@David Shouksmith If you still have a glass globe for the Superb I'd be very interested in getting one. Let me know what the price of the globe is and what the shipping cost will be. I will PT my address to you. Cheers, Norman
Colin your correct that a coleman globe will fit. it was a coleman globe that i was replacing yesterday because it was a bit tall. the 350 globe should be 120 x 120. thanks for the info tho. jeff, your right that the solar 500 will also do the job. its slightly undersized but would get a lamp up and running. nicely spotted. cheers
the globe from a 1A Aladdin fits perfect, you can buy them from the bay, clean un marked, I bought one for mine
Well just goes to show this forum is a font of knowledge.... Ive had this hanging with the other lamps for years, never paid it much attention LOL...
Morning, I know. In my quest to learn more about lamps in general ,when I see a make I've not heard of before I Google it.... The photo that comes up when you look for the 350 is the wick lamp I have! Never really took much notice of it before but I have now
Veritas wick lantern, hummm... somewhere in this god forsaken garage I call a "work shop" (should call it something else) I believe I have one of these wickies. Mine is green and has the original globe. I know I've had it probably 25-30 years! At the time I never heard of a Veritas lantern wick or pressure. The pressure lantern(s) I don't any examples. I've got to learn how to post pictures here, like Confuscious said, "One picture is worth a thousand words".
