Here's my Tilley PL52, dated 1932/33ish. Quite a shine for 87/88 years old.

With the mica globe it’s a PL52, I think, Pete.

    Cheers

what a Cracker of a cool lantern, I was watching it, I thought some one was being creative with the mica globe and hood, and just made the whole lantern up, PL52 well ill be,
just a question , dose the font have built in lugs for the handle or are they external?
    what a great centre piece,

Handles screw right into the tank. It's authentic okay. I have a PL53 from the same time period 1932/33 ish. I don't think these can be dated to a specific year.

That is a lovely lamp, the old tilleys were very well made.
As far as I am aware that shape tank with the riser for the fuel cock and the straight handle screwing into the tank was made from 1930 to 1937.
The 1938 to 1940 type is the same but without the riser.
The loose coil handle makes it early in this time frame with the later ones having a one piece handle with no loop for hanging. Pre 1930 tanks have a flat top and are pretty much a holy grail find.
Enjoy your lamp, she is a beauty.

This Tilley, for the most part, is the only lantern wifey will let me bring in the house when lit! Eloquent taste, I think! She loves these PL models and who can argue?! My Mom didn't raise dumb kids!:-s (Well maybe one)...
