It's a chilly early spring night, but it's got to be done. Something to distract from the corona virus swirl. Good luck to everyone and dont take unnecessary risks.
Thanks for sharing and good wishes. A quick calculation. Germany 80 mio citizens. Virologists expect 60-70% to become infected in next 12 months. Global Corona death-rate apprx 3% == potentially up to 1.6 mio deaths in Germany Good luck to each of you. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Take care.
There are currently 16 confirmed cases in Shetland and that virus has also reached the Faroe Islands and Iceland and Greenland.
I agree fully! Here in Sweden we share the situation with you all. The few (at this point) deaths has this far killed some of the over 75-95 years old people with some other underlying diagnoses. No younger people yet. In Sweden many of the elderly live by themselves and more seldom together with their children in their homes as generations in one house as in southern europe, so they can at least self quarantane themselves. Lets hope the german 3% death rate @bp4willi quoted will not be met.... To fler away this evening I tried to reason with my Santrax Rapid 150CP but no success. It flames a lot, i have started a thread regarding this: Unflaming a Santrax Rapid 150CP Unfortunately i have no beer here. I guess the problem would have been solved accompanied with a cold beer. A Hobgoblin would have been wonderful. Regards Matti
Who ordered that parcel from china with the bat wings??? Its really surprising, how that virus skips the gap to the islands....
Hi Matti Current corona death rate in Germany is only 0.3% Global avg corona death rate is 3% Italy 7% Coronavirus: Interaktive Karte zeigt aktuelle Zahl der Infektionen in Deutschland, Europa und weltweit
On the other hand:- Its a virus and their infections are usually meant to take their courses. Similar to all flu-like viral diseases, I'd think that the most effective antibodies that could counter it, are the specific ones that our own bodies develop during such infections. So if we don't get the Covid flu and recover, we might not build up the real resistances.
Well that would be a tourist or morron that didn't pay attentin to all the warings. Like the case overhere where a university professor (!) had contact with an Italian collegue. Although already Italy was in the picture. There is no cure for stupid people.
South London, 50 meters from Wandsworth Bridge: Mcdonalds near wandsworth bridge are still open as is the chicken fast food just along the road from them. The Chinese takeaway is shuttered and has been for days. The pizza shop is open as usual and full of UBER delivery bikes and other delivery bikes. The Cafe is open in the mornings to afternoon and is full tradesmen as usual Busses are still running, and folks are still gathering and chatting as usual. i have seen a few people with masks on. It is quiet on the streets and roads, and I seem to be tuned to hear coughing! Shops are sold out, oddly you can still buy jam, and milk is sporadic where I am. Beer is avaliable and so is a takeaway burger or kebab! life goes on! (Hopefully!!) I do have beer, pressure lighting, pressure stoves and paraffin.
@plantpot - Interesting to compare. I am 5 miles from the center of a large town, but in a rural area on a no-though road that breaks into footpaths and bridleways . There has been a marked increase in families walking up the road together, more people dog walking and cyclist coming through. This may be the positive from all of this - spending time together, where people are able, in the outdoors, while we are "Social Distancing". In terms of supplies - On Friday it took visits to three different grocery shops to make up the normal weekly shop, and some bartering with neighbors who have chickens, but I can see that shops and supermarkets are starting to catch up with the demand level from earlier in the week. Like you, I've plenty of beer, lanterns and paraffin! Stay safe.
