    Hello my friends,

This one i really like, it’s one of my latest finds and i like it because it looks differen and runs nice, i changed out the hood for a repro one, but i still have the rusty original, i think it cleaned up real nice.

I normally run it with a repro shade because it just looks right that way.

I believe it is an early 1940’s lantern.

The PL53 is an excellent lantern and yours is in fine condition. Where did you get the reproduction hood from please? It looks very authentic to me.

A very nice fettle of your PL53. The reproduction hood certainly looks great and well made.
    Well done.
    Cheers

Lovely PL53..early 40's? or late 40's early 50's? Just with the Guardsman font...

A fine example of the later PL53, early models have straight arms.

My guess would be early 1940’s with a brass tank. As brass was required for munitions and therefore in short supply the later versions were more likely to have steel tanks.

No worries, I'm a happy to be corrected...I know Jeremy has been around Tilleys a few years more than I have, so this tank shape precedes the pork pie shape....confused.
