I can’t decide if I love it or hate it but don’t suppose I would turn it down if I was offered one. What are the chances of that happening, I wonder?
Those are interesting heaters, but I would like to find an R-4. https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/1929-tilley-r-4-advert.14701/
The design and materials are far removed from the usual Tilley fare - and doesn't appear to have been marketed in the UK. It makes one question how much of it came out of Hendon (other than the control cock and beyond) - or whether it was a Thacker created item. Either way, I still want one.
Hello Ian, I also wondered if it was a Thacker design for the more modern American market at that time.
I'm confused - the parts list above for the HRH-1refers to left hand and right hand burners. Possible there were two, positioned horizontally and fixed at either end. But then wouldn't they be 'upper' and 'lower'..?
Well the holes in the back of the HRH2 where the HRH1 controls located are level so it appears the two burners were also level. The illustration seems to show a single bar heater element but it is by no means clear and we really don't know what the burners and controls looked like. This is all I have. ::Neil::
The price went up a bit by September 1960. Now $69.95 HRH = Horizontal Radiant Heater HRH-2, August 1962. Same price as the HRH-1 in 1960 This is a fairly comprehensive list of models and part numbers from August 1962 but no mention of the HRH.
No I didn't see one at Newark. Mind you I was only there for a few hours on the Saturday so I didn't get to see everything. So that makes two in the UK then. Getting common! Yes that one in Jim's book has to be HRH2. Just from the parts lists it cannot be HRH1 with those burners and vaporisers. A pity because Jim didn't make many mistakes and we missed that one but then when he was talking to Mick and me about models and such before publication none of us had seen either version and it was an American oddity which none of us had ever researched. . ::Neil::
I was looking through some paperwork I have and found a copy of this. Same a @Mackburner posted above, but a little larger.
