So I have 2 run of the mill dual fuel Coleman from the 80s (I don't know that models at this time). Neither have pumps that work. The leathers have some crusty stuff on them and are a little bit torn up. Should I try to oil them or just buy new ones/
Give them a gentle clean, oil them up with either neats foot oil or a 3 in 1 light oil and give them a go. If they fail, then buy replacements. The Fettle box on this site has them, alternately, Old Coleman Parts has them. Cheers Pete
Ok, ok. So I don’t really know what either of those oils are. I heard that I can just motor oil? And also I think the valve inside the pump tube or whatever is stuck, how can I fix that. Finally, amazon has replacement leather cups.
Neats foot oil is a product used for sharpening wood plane blades and wood chisels. It’s made from cows hooves and you can buy it from hardware stores. 3 in 1 oil is a light lubricating oil, used to be for sewing machines and small things around the house needing oil. This can also be purchased from a hardware store. Some people use olive oil, but I don’t. It’s personal choice really.
Motor oil works just fine but if the leather is torn you may want to replace it. They're inexpensive at OCP. It's also helpful to clean the the pump tube with carburetor cleaner prior to inserting the pump back into the tube. OCP has tutorials on how to rebuild single and double mantle lanterns that you may find helpful.
Here is the lantern that I could get working. I just used some multi purpose lubricant I found, on the leather and it works just fine now. However, the other lantern has like a blob of rust in the pump tube so I squirted some vinegar in there to see what happens. Also, I can pressurize that lantern, but it seems like it’s not getting enough fuel.
When you say "other lantern" what model and year is it? It would be easier to help you if we had that information.
@Levi Tomey The Coleman 220 series are very good reliable lamps, the 220K being one of them. Well done on getting the lantern up and running. Is the running lantern. 220K as well? Cheers Pete
I would remove the generator, pressurize the lantern and open the the valve slightly until fuel begins to flow. Assuming at that point you have fuel flowing, you should assume your lack of fuel is a dirty generator. If fuel doesn't flow from valve then the the metering rod in the Fuel/air tube is not retracting when the valve is open and to address that issue the valve assembly has to be removed and cleaned.

Coffee always helps @AussiePete, although still Wednesday night here so something more substantial is in order! @Levi Tomey re 220/228 being a PITA, yours should be okay to strip down, depending on how hard a life they have had. I've a number of 220/228 and most have stripped down okay. They are simple to fault find as well. Good luck, I look forwards to seeing your progress.
Ok, so lemme say, my 228 that was totally wrecked was pretty easy to disassemble. Also when I tried to disassemble this 220 I was dumbfounded as to how to remove the collar. Finally, the problem was the generator so I took the working one off of my other 220, put it in the broken 220, and low and behold, the good one stopped working.
@Levi Tomey First off, your 220K lanterns are not dual fuel they are Coleman fuel only, unleaded gas will clog the generator. There are two pages here which may help you: Coleman 220K with a very weak burn. Henry.

Ok, ok, will do. By the way, I just had a really cool idea and want to know what material the ribbed collars that started in I think 1963 are made out of.
Could be either steel or aluminium. I'm not sure what year Coleman changed these over. I know my 1940's- 1960's tend to have steel collars, 1970's onward tend to be aluminum.
