Enjoying my Dutch army P350 more and more. After adjusting the spring in the vaporizertube the needle is working properly. Only nuisance is the way I have to light it; remove the hood and globe to fill the preheater cup. Then re-install the globe and hood and try to light it from the bottom with a match or lighter. So a question for my fellow P350 owners; how do you fill the preheater cup without removing the hood and globe? Thanks! @Darryl Durdin @Norman @Brenneman and others
I unlock the hood clips and raise the glass a bit and then shove a bit of wood under under the glass to hold it up and then I use a Coleman meths bottle to fill the meths trough and then I twist a bit of paper to make a taper and dip one end in meths, which I light and then I use it to light the meths which is in the trough. Remember to quench the taper when you remove it. This link shows meths bottles. https://www.google.com/search?clien...kgEDNS4xmAEAoAEBqgEHZ3dzLXdpeg&sclient=psy-ab
That was my way also to light them. At a time I had to put in a large order at Old Coleman Parts and added a Coleman alcohol bottle (201-7009 or 201-5511): The brass tube of this bottle fits through the long but small slot in the underside of the frame. Then lighting the alcohol (or spiritus) with a long match through the same slot.
Thanks @JEFF JOHNSON and @Brenneman. Thats a nifty looking device. Should be easy enough to fettle one with stuff laying around the house.
You can order that style of bottle and tube (or something very similar) from ebay. They are very good, I've not yet found a lantern that cannot be filled using one of these.
I use the same type of Coleman alcohol bottle as @Brenneman and I too haven’t had any issues with filling preheater cups on any of my lanterns. Cheers Pete
@ColinG Because I’m from “down under” would my Coleman spirit bottle be an upside down system too ....
