Hello, this is my latest find in action. But I broke the glas during fetteling this lamp. Here you can see the result. What a tragedy ! Maybe someone knows where I can gat a new one? Please help. BR Joachim
I do not know where you would get a glass from but if it was me I would be looking to find local artisans that do glass blowing and take a drawing or photograph (or even the broken glass) with some dimensions to them to see if they could help
You can get a replacement glass from Hytta. It is not the same as the original Radius glass, but it works.
No, a Tilley onion globe is much larger than the one this little tiny Radius use. Also, it doesn't have the three little tabs that are needed to fit the globe to the holder. Hytta, as Nils suggested, is probably the easiest choice. I think the "knaggenglass" for the Marla lamp of this kind might be the same size as Radius, but I'm not sure. It needs to be verified by someone who knows.
This is the type I mean. The top OD is 42 mm and the height is 83 mm. These are the style to suit the Petromax and Marla lamps, but they work just as well on the Radius.
That one is also similar to the shape most Radius 107 seems to have used. Atleast I more often see that type compared to the larger spherical globe seen in the illustration from the instructions sheet above. But those do of course also pop up now and then.
Real heartbreaker, I know just how you feel... I hope you get lucky and find a replacement but a lamp like yours will be hard to find a replacement for. Good luck!
If you go down the glass blower route, I suppose any new glass globe would have to be ‘pyrex’ grade to withstand the heat? What a shame, but these things happen. I had a blue etch 182 cracked by a pierced mantle last year...
Why complicate things if Hytta only takes some measly 5 EUR for a glass that fit and look pretty close to the original?
Thanks you for your sympathy, but in hytta it is out of stock I will call Jürgen from hytta, but I am afraid I will have no success.
Sorry about that. I didn't see that the correct glass was not in the list. If Hytta doesn't have them, I don't know where to look. Maybe Jürgen has an idea.
That's heartbreaking. Its not going to be easy to find. By the way, where did you get the lamp from? Perhaps there's a chance that the seller might have some ideas of a similar unit somewhere.
