    I reckon that the unenamelled part is basically a collet so,

    1) Undo the fastener(s) which hold the reflector in place and allow it to swing down.
    2) Push glass through reflector as far as it will go.
    3) Spring rusty ring piece apart and remove from glass.
    4) Withdraw glass from reflector.

    Forget the Donut lamp, there’s a nicely restored Vapalux 300 and equally nice unrestored Vapalux 300...:mrgreen:

    That’s a beauty Paul.

    Post up some pictures of the arrangement when you get it apart, it looks like some sort of hardware is used to keep the holder in place.

    IMG_0330.JPG Looked at it again and found what Henry pointed out were threads, these turned out to be 4 knurled screws, these held the ring which is showing, it's actually in 2 halves, the glass looks like a Blanchard glass but twice the size
