Gold painted Tilley X246A stamped S1263XA, the first in my Tilley collection. Pictures show it after a wash in soapy water. It holds pressure, but has a slight weep on the bottom outer rim of the fount and a dent. It is straight, cage not tightened down I'll add more information as the fettle progresses
It should clean up nicely and give you some good fettling practice. A bit of a dent around the pump also ?
Update.... I tried to straighten the pump mount and split the joint between the tank and boss , thankfully it soldered back on . Polished and lacquered.
You need to straighten that out a bit more - there's not supposed to be a dent around the pump boss - or get another tank which will probably be easier! Or you could just think of it as 'character', I suppose, reflecting the history of the lantern which seems to have been dropped at some time...
Looking at the rest of the tank I think they may have dropped it at the top of a flight of concrete stairs
You have polished the font very well. Yep polishing really shows the pushed in pump boss. It now has a war story to tell .....
@Tony Press The weep was sealed using a pen size blow torch and solder. I put a ring of wet tissue around the pin hole to reduce the heat spreading too far and melting the base joint solder.
