Nice example of a 315, found a little dusty at the local waste site. The previous owner had been nice enough to fit a new mantle before deciding to throw it away :content:

Given a wash, couple of new seals fitted, filled and lit

not very bright and a sizeable flame halo around the mantle - may have to check the burner for blockages, give the tank a another flush and try new fuel :-k

It shows promise and owes you a seal kit. Not much to lose everything to gain. My favourite of the range.

Date code as shown - 3 large dots above, 4 small dots below - based on other posts I'm taking a guess at April 1963 as the 315 dates from 1957 to 1966 :-k:-k

Yes, I'd say April 1963 too.

The code's quite obvious - years are bigger than months so the big dots are years and the smaller ones are months. The small dots range from 1 to 12 but never 0 - so would indicate January to December. On the other hand, it's possible to have no large dots which would indicate 1960 - were the code dots still being used in 1970? i.e. beyond the Aladdin of Greenford tie-in which ended in 1967 or 1968 depending on how you look at it...
