Tilley IL33

This donut has the 10” tank and seems to be all present and correct. Since it has the Tilley shield I assume it dates from the 1930s? I haven’t seen a donut reflector with a slot rather than a round hole before nor an NRV with just one hole.

 

Ooo, nice and it’s got the original brass burner gallery. I’ll swap you a brass button control cock for that gallery.

Congratulations Jean. The right lamps find the right people. That will look amazing restored and burning.

 

We can't be sure of the date they moved to the 12 inch tank. The last catalogue that illustrates it is September 1933. In August 1934 IL 33 is shown with the tank the same size as the reflector and that is stated to be 12". The problem is Tilley had a habit of using old images in paperwork so the 10" tank could be earlier and possibly 1920s. They are certainly not common so really good find. ::Neil::

Had a bit more of a look Jean.
The 1929 and the 1930 catalogues have your lamp.
Both show the IL33 with the through XN CC and the OL50 with the easier to find newer than that XN CC.
Looks like old art work on the IL33 so you don't have to find a through one to make it right.
Thats gotta be good.

 

I do have a spare but may just leave the c c that’s on. Pics of pump for Tony. Will try to clean it up a bit and hopefully light it up. We’ve never tried lighting a donut before mainly because of the hassle of having to fill up and empty out again before selling.

Actually I may hang on to this one since it’s small and sell the IL47 that came from Zimbabwe. Just depends on how the finances are looking as I have to sell one thing in order to keep another.

 

Definitely keep this one Jean, much more special and you’ll find another 20 Il47 before another of these.
