I was wondering if someone could help me with my ole Tilley 246B. I have installed all new seals/washers. The NRV on the pump was very hard to unscrew and the brass inner piece came out too. So I put it all together and the pump has kero coming back up the handle. Any suggestions please? Thanks
Have you changed the pip value seal at the bottom of the pump? Generally if the seal is no good you will get back pressure coming up the pump.
Hello @Genuine1K , [here could be your name], What do you mean with "the whole inner piece" ? Picture ? Did you by accident turn out the whole valve in stead of the "screw off" part ?
The screw off part was very tight and I used a socket to take it off. In doing so the thick brass washer with the thread for the screw off part came completely out of the pump housing. I would post a picture but need more computer training on that !
Did you manage to separate the screw off part from the thick brass washer or are they still stuck together? Sounds like the solder join between the brass washer and the pump tube has sheared apart so once you have it separated, it will need soldering back in.
Thank you James - so that brass washer is meant to be soldered inside - well it currently is not. And yes I did get the brass washer and screw/nut separated then replaced the NRV rubber.
Easy solder job I would have though..blow torch rather than iron as the whole thing would need heating. Brighten with wire wool & use flux.
