Finally got round ordering a repro globe for this lamp. It was an easy fettle, just some new washers and a new pump leather. No stress cracks or leaks. Borrowed a hood from an M1 because the one this lamp came with (same green one) has lost 90% of its enamel and I don't want to get it all rusty. This lamp has no date markings on it unfortunately. So no idea about its age. Click to enlarge:
Thanks @AussiePete @Alex Smith @JEFF JOHNSON Pretty happy with it although is was not really a challenging fettle. The lamp came to me in this condition. Just the globe and washers had to be installed. Its fun to add something different to the collection that consists mostly of Tilley, Coleman and Petromax style lamps as these are pretty common here in Holland. Other English lamps are more difficult (and more expensive) to find. Luckily I've also got a Vapalux and Veritas to add some diversity (very important these days).
@Emiel Sounds like you have a nice collection with its diversity similar to mine. As I add different breeds of lanterns into my collection I’m also increasingly adding to my knowledge. I’m sure it’s the same with you. Enjoy Cheers Pete
Hi Emiel, I have an identical lamp except that I have military stores markings, stamped 1952. I've seen 1954 onward with cast aluminium frames so I'm thinking your lamp is sandwiched between the brass 300X (1946-1949) and the aluminum 305 frame version 1953-1954. If correct, that would narrow you down to within a 2-3 year date window (1950-52/3). Nice example you have there, regards, Martin.
