I was able to finally put my hands on a Bialaddin 310 which is filling a gap in my British lamps collection. The tank has been stripped by a pre owner and shows its brass surface. The glass globe with stepped shoulder has a red Bialaddin inscription. The top hood only has two enamel chips other than often seen all around the top. Lighting up was easy. The lamppost is a dead lilac tree with a new task. Matthias
@ColinG The brass look is not bad, but also not original. I think I tend to give it the green paint that's unique to the 310. It's worth a try. Matthias
@bp4willi You are right, it's appealing as well. And not everybody has this composition. And leaving the brass means no painting mess. I'll have to throw dice Matthias
@LatMag49 No need to gamble, just acquire another in green then all is well? The only problem is they also had a chrome tank?
Yes the Brass looks good. I'm on a brass project at the moment, just because the fount I have already was a very highly polished Brass.
On the other hand, if you don't paint it then you'll have the 'cleaning mess' (and effort) at intervals. Unless you give it a coat of clear lacquer, naturally, in which case you'd have the painting mess again. You should try to work more tidily...
My wisdom of age tells me to keep calm and wait for a nice patina being created by time I think that's tidy enough. Matthias @David Shouksmith
