Its a nice lamp, but its a job to get it going. You have to turn the pump rod and get a sweet spot to build pressure. Then when first lit you have to drop a bit of pressure to avoid a flare up. That's even with the quarter turn of the valve. Only then can you crank it up and build pressure and she runs lovely.
These lanterns fire up much more cleanly if you fit a metho pre-heater, or use a metho torch to heat the generator first. Cheers Tony

Don’t go that way - all you need is a Coleman-type priming cup or a long brass wire with a wick on the end that you use like a match. Tony
