This is a Coleman BQ bracket lamp. The tank is stamped with the a Coleman logo and 4 1 (April 1931; which make it 90 years old). The BQ bracket lamps were made from 1920 to 1932. Date stamp “4 1”. The lamp fitted with the Coleman “Universal” shade holder. I never did work out what the device on the bottom of the air tube was for. “5136” “O”. Note the screw. Note also that one burner tube is longer than the other. “US Pt. May 13 1919/British Patent 153329/Made in USA” The bakelite fuel control wheel has the curved arrow and CLOSE on front; and the curved arrow and CLOSE twice on the back. This is the shade holder that came with this bracket lamp. Testing... My bracket lantern with this bracket lamp. Some aspects of this lamp are discussed here: What lamp is this from? Cheers Tony
Good day. Could that "contraption/bracket" possibly be the fixed support for an insect guard?? Cheers
The truth is, I’ve not found out what the bracket is for. It’s now in my “odd things found on lamps” box. Cheers Tony
Very faint Tony but definitely USA. A lot of my lamps aren’t in the gallery as I usually just put them into the Open Forum. Suppose I could add it now.
Tony Those are two nice lamps! Nice work! I’m curious if @Mackburner / Neil has any thoughts? Thank you Kevin
