This is an unknown model of Crystal-Lite table lamp. Crystal-Lite lamps were exported from the USA by the AJ Alsdorf Corporation (Chicago) and sold in Australia by J & W Bateman Ltd (Perth, Western Australia), from 1925 to the late 1920s. It is a torch-lit gasoline lamp. This lamp is a companion of the Crystal-Lite wall lamp here: Crystal-Lite Model 9 Wall Lamp There is some discussion of Crystal-Lite here: Crystal-Lite. Brand or re-brand? There is certainly a connection with Enterprise Tool and Metal Works (Chicago) in the production of these lamps. Neil McRae (@Mackburner) lists Crystal-Lite in the Pressure Lamp Catalogue. I'm posting this now, but with the task left of making mica chimneys for it... That looks a very well engineered lamp indeed.. I like how they made the burner How would you say it compares with other lamps regarding light output? I suppose what I mean is, how much c.p. does it give out ? Was there a lot of fiddling to get it to run at all? The shape of the font reminds me of another lamp.. a lot of questions but that’s quite a lot of lamp :-) Thanks Tony
What a marvellous lamp! I’ve no idea how you keep finding rare and wonderful lamps. However you do it, don’t stop! That you’ve got this splendid lamp running just adds to the magic....

The lamp is fitted with 500cp mantles on both burners. It’s not giving out 500cp on each burner, though. I did that because fitting smaller mantles caused flame outside the mantle. One jet (the right hand one) is slightly smaller than the left, and the nipples are not identical, but are interchangeable. That’s just the way it came. I think the output from each burner is more what you’re used to seeing from a 300cp Tilley, but not as bright as a Coleman 500cp burner like a 236. It took me a long time to get it going, mainly because I was extremely careful with each component. It was dirty and surface rusted, but the tank was good. I will do fettling notes down the track.
