Pleased to share these images of an Evening Star Table Lamp, which I believe are quite rare? The lamp came with the shade, which I am not sure is original, but fits perfectly. It also came with a variety of other parts. I am not even sure the lamp has ever been used, and I am nowhere near experienced enough with these lamps to even try. It is a very lovely thing, beautifully made. Thanks
Welcome aboard! That is a very lucky find and those lamps do turn up once in a while, but they are not common. The shade is for an Aladdin model 8 table lamp and the link below shows relevant information. Aladdin Lamp Model 8
Hi Scott and welcome ! Thats quite a lamp .. in exceptional condition and to have everything you need to use, service and maintain too! Well done ! regards, pb ps great photos too could I ask if there are any markings on the pump at all, please?
Quite rare @Scott Gilmore and yours is definitely in better condition than mine (pic in the Gallery). I never tried to light mine, are you intending to light yours?
Thank you for the welcome, The lamp was acquired from a private estate, I understood they had the lamp from new. The only marks on the pump are as per the attached image, I am not sure if it means anything? Thanks Scott
Your 401 Aladdin shade looks to me that it may be a reproduction. Easy to tell. The original has an 8 3/4 inch fitting and the reproduction is 9 7/8.
Hi Anthony, it is the larger version,, it was with the lamp, it fits very securely, but to my eye is a bit big for the lamp.
Hi Scott, I’m sure that to other collectors who have looked for patent stamps they will help or confirm what they already know. A lot of the history of these older lamps is known but there is still much that is a puzzle.. A lot of collectors also search for that history which goes right back to the very origins of how these lamps evolved.. patent stamps are one way of looking and perhaps to be able to cross reference.. perhaps other folk can say more? I'm way out of my depth already.. @Mackburner @Conny C
