Firstly thank you to @Anthony for your help and assistance it is very much appreciated. I bought the R22 it was in fair condition, just been sitting in a shed for quite some time. It is a solid heavy heater I dismantled the heater as some parts needed some preservation work. The vaporisers were good, the burners looked well used and in need of some attention, the pump still works. The bottom burner cap appears to be threaded on both burners, they basically just slipped inside the burner. I cleaned everything up with my bead blaster inside and out. They came up good and once I had reassembled them and put the mantle on it screwed up tight. All good. I cleaned up the cock valves and vaporisers the tank I bead blasted clean and repainted with UHT spray paint, the inside of the heater body I cleaned it up and also painted with the UHT paint to make it all tidy. New seals all round the mantles you see I bought from Associated Kerosene & Oil Lamps www.oillamps.com.au They are well made and of good quality. I reassembled the heater but had a issue with not being able to get the burners on in place, this part allows the rant and vaporisers to tilt forward so you can put on or off the burner into place the tilt back is secures them in place. It’s all going together it’s all ready to go. Note. It takes a long preheating 3x tilley meth torch each burner It fired up very nice, putting out the heat. mans now the money shot Thanks fellas I hope you all enjoy my post
Hi Darryl, That looks Pretty Awesome I see what you mean about tilting the tank.. lean the vapourisers outwards, slip the burners back on, locate the air tubes.. Is the back of the copper reflector enamelled or painted? Those mantles really look to be kicking the heat out ! Cheers I wonder if the extra pre heats are because of your new mantles being bigger than the Tilley round mesh type?
Cracking job Daryl, looking good especially with the original control taps and burners, my R22 has got the later flat top burners. Regards Ian.
