May 1957 Coleman 249 Made in England. I have noted the differences compared to a May 1957 Made in Canada Coleman 249. : Vent is green inside and out. : No noticeable difference in the vent nut. : The font on the collar is different. : The rivets on the collar are open. : The wingnut is more rounded. : There is writing on the burner casting. : The frame base pressing is more rounded. : The wingnut depression has a flat section at the opening . : The valve assembly is squared at the T. : The valve wheel is thicker and has a more rounded appearance. : The pump knob flat center is smaller. : The horizon on the sunshine logo has more of a wave. : There is a gap between the four lines of the underline of the Coleman logo. : The filler cap has a more rounded appearance. : The preheat cup is more rounded. : The valve wheel appears to be threaded onto the valve shaft. I don't want to remove it to confirm incase of damaging it. : The self tapping pump cap screws are blunt at the tip. : The bail is slightly longer. : The bottom rim of the fount is narrower. Hope I have covered everything.

Note that my English Coleman 237 has the cast mixing chamber with “WB 237 54”. Coleman 237 (England, October 1954) I’ll let Martin chime in on this particular feature, but there appears to be a pattern emerging. Cheers Tony
G'day Andrew, Very nice looking lantern and I appreciate the detail in your post, thanks. I recently picked up a Coleman 249 stamped "MADE IN ENGLAND" Date 1 57. It has some obvious similarities to yours notably the cast mixing chamber with “WB 249 54” and the valve assembly is squared at the T. I'm in the process of cleaning it up and then will compare other details. I'm thinking 54 might be the production date for the mixing chamber
