This is a Gloria gasoline lantern, made in Melbourne, Australia by Gloria Light Co. Pty. Ltd. (Australia). At this stage there is no known model number but Neil McRae has this recorded as "W" in his Pressure Lamp Catalogue. Notes: 1. The filler cap was missing so the one shown is not original. I had to make a basic one to fit. Fuel cap thread 3/4 “– 26 TPI 2. The enamel on the Cap of the hood is pretty well gone. It has been coasted with stove black polish. 3. The lantern has been cleaned and given a bees wax hand polishing. 4. To remove the NRV use a 7/16” socket (not a screwdriver) 5. Replacing the vapouriser can be seen in this post. Replacing the Vapouriser on a Gloria Lantern with a Handi. I’ll take the opportunity to thank @Tony Press for his assistance with missing parts and information. Preheating Up and Running
A lovely lantern restored very well. Interesting the BSB 3/4" thread too. That would have been fun sorting out.
@Tony Press @Fireexit1 @JEFF JOHNSON @Sedgman @Walkop Thanks gentlemen, I'm very happy with my first Gloria. Iain, I made the fuel cap on a lathe. I'm no expert and cutting the thread was a slow process.
Awesome Job. With my MS I can't delve that deep into them I truly wish I could but I would gladly pay someone to do that I actually have two colemans in Kansas now because my attention to detail is like shot so I'm having them redo them, whatever they do to em to renovate them not finish wise but I guess internally if that is the right word. I'm new to lanterns but just in the last 2 months I've acquired 10. I'm very thankful for finding this site.
I don't know what it is but I can look at lanterns all day long and I have been for the last couple of 3 months.lol
